Fire at Derry hospital site

Dozens of fire-fighters are this morning tackling a blaze at a hospital site in Derry.

The Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service this morning confirmed that they were dealing with a blaze in the vicinity of the former Stradreagh Hospital at Gransha.

A Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service (NIFRS) spokesperson said:

“We received a call this morning at 7.19am to attend a fire at an unoccupied building within the grounds of the disused Stradreagh Hospital site, Gransha Park.

“Six appliances, an aeriel specialist Appliance and a Command Support Unit along with 44 Firefighters are currently dealing with a well-developed fire.

“The incident is ongoing and there are no further details at this stage”.
