First Buncrana Christmas Parade

The festive season is going to kick off in style in Buncrana this year as the town will play host to its first ever Christmas Parade.

The first annual Buncrana Christmas Parade will take place on Friday, November 27th from 6.30pm on the town’s Main Street. It will then be followed by the switching on of the Christmas lights by the main man himself - Santa Claus, who will be accompanied by his wife Mrs Claus and his elves as well as everyone’s favourite ‘Disney’ and ‘Frozen’ characters. The word on the street is that Santa has enlisted the help of the local fire service and will arrive in the town on a fire engine. A host of local talent will also take part including Elite Dance Academy, Buncrana Accordion Band and The Gateway Singers.

Following the big switch on, everyone is then invited to the free kids’ disco and the grand opening of Santa’s Kingdom at the Inishowen Gateway Hotel. The event is being held in conjunction with the hotel, Buncrana Chamber of Commerce, Buncrana Christmas Lights Committee and Donegal County Council.

Chairperson of the chamber, Ryan Stewart told the ‘Journal’ all of the local bodies had come together to ensure the night is one not to be missed.
