Derry City Council have been urged to carry out a clean-up in the St Canice’s Park area of Eglinton.
The call was made by Sinn Féin councillor Paul Fleming after local residents raised concerns about the area.
“There is a huge number of leaves on the road which is leading to very slippy and quite treacherous conditions underfoot. In addition, there is an issue in relation to the nearby river which is blocked with rubbish.
“As well as being unsightly, there are concerns regarding the associated smell and the potential for vermin infestation.
“My office has raised these issues with Derry City Council and I will continue to engage with council officers to ensure the appropriate maintenance measures are taken,” he said.
