Inishowen’s Fort Dunree is featuring on a new documentary series on BBC 1 Northern Ireland.
The first episode of Ireland’s Great War was shown on February 1st last but can still be watched on BBC player.
The second episode will air on February 8th.
The first episode dealt with how nationalists and unionists “came together for a common cause during the First World War” while at home the Easter Rising was sparked.
The second episode tells how the Irish fought together at the Messines while at home the country was split over the issue of conscription.
The documentary was directed by John Carlin and written and produced by Chris Nikkel.
It is understood some filming took place at Fort Dunree in July 2013 and this is shown in the series.
