Comic book enthusiasts from the North West will be able to enjoy Free Comic Book day which comes to Derry for the first time tomorrow (Saturday).

The event, which is held in stores worldwide, is a first for Derry and is being organised by Chris McFeely at the MAD about Music store on Carlisle Road.

Speaking to the Journal, Chris said staff want to see as many people as possible at Saturday’s event.

“As its name suggests, on Free Comic Book Day, we’re giving away comics absolutely free,” he said.

“MAD will be the place to be for comic capers on Free Comic Book Day. To add to the festivities, comic creating guest artists will be sketching and signing in-store, for free, and some of the best known superheroes may even make appearances for customers to have their picture taken with.

“People can bring the whole family along and have them sketched as Superheroes. Ever wondered what your

Granny would look like in an Iron Man Costume? Well, now you can find out for real! Not only that but you can get your picture taken with Sheldon Cooper’s Green Lantern from The Big Bang Theory.

Free Comic Book Day takes place this Saturday, May 3rd at MAD About Music, 1 Carlisle Road. Doors open at 9am !
