A weekend paint bomb attack on Free Derry Corner has been condemned by a local councillor.
Sinn Féin councillor Colin Kelly was speaking after a number of paint bombs were thrown at the iconic Bogside wall at the weekend.
It is the second time the wall has been targeted by paint bombers since the beginning of the year.
Speaking after the latest attack, Colr. Kelly said: “I was contacted by a constituent who was taking a number of visitors to our city on a tour of the Bogside area on Sunday.
“He was angered to see that once again the front of Free Derry Wall had been targeted with a number of paint bombs.
“This is a very worrying trend, as there was an attack on the wall just a week or so before the annual Bloody Sunday commemoration weekend.
“Last year we had the petrol bombing of the notice boards at the back of the wall and destruction of a number of billboards,” he explained.
Colr. Kelly said attacks on the wall, and the notice board on its rear - which is used to highlight a range of issues - are an insult to the community.
