The family of baby Aya Seymour - described by her mother as her ‘miracle baby’ will be holding a fundraising night in aid of the Neo-natal unit who nursed her to health when she was born nine weeks early last year.
Baby Aya, who was born after her mother Sharon endured 14 miscarriages and two cycles of IVF, turned one at the end of March and her parents thought now was the perfect time to give something back to the unit who cared for her when she was first born.
“The Neo-Natal unit at Altnagelvin were fantastic,” Sharon said. “I was terrifed when Aya was born, weighing only 4lbs 2oz. She had problems with her breathing and it was a horrible time - a really difficult thing to go through to watch her so sick.
“But the staff were brilliant - from the doctors to the nurses and the nursery assistants. They helped her so much and helped me put us at ease. They couldn’t do enough for us all and I will always be grateful to them.”
The Seymour family will be holding their fundraiser at the City Hotel on Friday, May 13. Music will be provided by the Housem8s. Tickets are priced at just £10 and these can be bought directly from the City Hotel.
