Helen has strong connections to Inishowen through members of her family living in the peninsula.

She told the ‘Journal’ the ‘meet up’ at The Exchange in Buncrana on September 10th, will provide a place for Nintendo 3DS owners to get together and game with one another, via the console’s local wireless capabilities.

Helen said she wanted to bring the event to Inishowen and the Nintendo 3DS is specifically designed as a social console and there has “never really been anything like this” for fans in the North West.

Helen said she imagines that many people in rural Ireland don’t get the opportunity to meet with other 3DS owners, “which is why we are giving them one.”

She said: “Fans who live close to Dublin have lots of awesome things going on, such as Monster Hunter Ireland and Smash Ireland, but those in places like Donegal have nothing.

“In the UK there are events going on in virtually every territory, something I would love to see happen in Ireland. So I figured I’d help kickstart things in my own wee way.”

There will be competitions held on the day of the meet-up, including a raffle and a Wii U will also be available to play.

Nintendo UK are providing prizes. Entry to both the event and all contests are free.

The only stipulation is that those under 16 must be accompanied by a responsible adult. The event will take place between 1-5 p.m.
