Renewed hope has been given to Garth Brooks fans in Derry and elsewhere over the future of the five controversial Croke Park concerts.

It has now been confirmed that talks are set to take place at 3pm this afternoon in Dublin City Council’s Civic Offices.

The move comes after Taoiseach Enda Kenny stepped in to the debate in an effort to avoid what many see as the huge impact on tourism and the economy in Dublin.

In a statement to promoter Peter Aiken last night, Garth Brooks said he was prepared to “work to the last second” ahead of the ticket refunding process which is set to get underway early next week.

It’s understood that this afternoon’s talks will involve a mediator between the Dublin City manager and the city’s mayor.

As yet, no tickets have been refunded.
