Sinn Fein President, Gerry Adams, has thanked the people of Derry after his party held their annual Ard Fheis in the Millennium Forum last weekend.
Speaking at the conclusion of his party Ard Fheis in Derry at the weekend Sinn Féin President Gerry Adams said: “I want to commend all of those who helped organise the weekend’s Ard Fheis in Derry and a very sincere thank you to all of the Derry comrades who worked hard over many months to put the event together.
“A very special thank you to the people of Derry who gave us a warm welcome.”
Mr. Adams added: “The Ard Fheis was one of the most exhilarating in many years. I am a frequent visitor to the city and always enjoy coming to Derry. It is a very welcoming place and the thousands of delegates, visitors, their families, local and international media and guests have now experienced a taste of that famous Derry hospitality and I have no doubt they will be back.
“I want to thank Sarah Griffin for her exquisite rendition of Amhrán na bhFiann. It provided a perfect conclusion to what was an extremely successful Ard Fheis.”
Despite a busy schedule Mr. Adams found time during his visit to take in some of Derry’s top tourist attractions.
“In what was a particularly hectic weekend I managed to escape from the hustle and bustle long enough for a dander round the Derry Walls and across the Peace Bridge.
“I want to thank all the local activists and supporters who helped organise and deliver a very vibrant and upbeat Ard Fheis. Thanks to the people of Derry. Míle buíochas do gach duine.”
