The mum of a six-year-old County Derry boy recovering from a cardiac arrest says she is overwhelmed at the support the family continues to receive.

Sean Deighan’s heart stopped when he was with his dad during the Easter holidays. He was given life saving CPR by his mum Orlagh, who is fully trained, his dad Darragh and partner Sharon.

The St Colmcille’s PS, Claudy, pupil has been in The Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children since.

This week, Sean will travel to Dublin for surgery.

Mum Orlagh, from the Foreglen area, says the family is anxious about the surgery, but says the amount of support from family, friends and strangers has helped tremendously.

The school is holding a special event next week to raise funds for a defibrillator.

In the meantime, Sean’s class mates are missing their friend ‘very much’, and hope he will be back at school soon.

Watch the students send ‘get well’ wishes to Sean.
