Glengad St. Patrick’s Day Parade

Glengad Youth Club will be having its Annual Parade Fundraiser on St. Patrick’S Day, Thursday 17th March. The parade will be leaving The Fisherman’s Inn car park at 2pm (weather premitting) In the event of inclement weather we will meet at the Community Centre at 2.30pm. Entertainment and refreshments to follow at the Centre. Adults are needed to help out with the following: collecting money at the door, providing sandwiches and baked goods, selling raffle tickets and providing prizes for the raffle and to help to clear up the hall after the festivities. The committee look forward to a good response and everyone is welcome.

Malin GAA Club is holding a St Patrick’s Day disco in the Malin Hotel on Wednesday 16th March, with music by the Cavanagh Brothers, admission is €8 and everyone is welcome for a good nights craic.

‘Options Inishowen’ Returns

Are you an adult interested in returning to education or are currently engaged in learning and considering progression onto further study – then this event is for you - Education, Training & Jobs Information Fair – Gateway Hotel, Buncrana, Tuesday, 22nd March, 10.30am – 4.00pm. Open and free to all adults.

Carndonagh Community Market, a vibrant and exciting new community venture, opens its doors on Saturday 19th March! The venue is the Colgan Hall and the Market will take place every Saturday from 12noon to 4pm. The Carndonagh Community Market is just that - a market run by members of the community, for the community. Buncrana Inishowen Development Partnership is currently recruiting participants for its computer courses commencing in March. Courses range from basic IT to intermediate IT. First Communion dates: Star of the Sea Church, Malin Head on the 7th May at 11am for pupils of St Mary’s N.S. and Urblereagh N.S. St. Patricks Church, Aughaclay on Sunday 14th May for pupils of Scoil Cholmcille, Glengad and Scoil Treasa Naofa, Malin Town.

CSSC is a cancer support group for Inishowen people based in Milltown House, Carndonagh. The group meets on the second Monday of the month at 7.30pm. Club have launched a fundraising draw. Tickets will be on sale from club members. Prizes 1st, 4,000 euro. 2nd, 1000 euro; 3rd, 500 euro 4th, 250 euro 5th, 250 euro. Draw will take place at annual awards night in Fishermans Inn at end of season. Tickets cost €20.

Malin GAA senior side continued their good form in the Ulster league with a 0-10 to 1-07 win over Steelstown in Derry on Saturday, making it three wins out of three in the competition. Results did not go quite so well at underage level over the weekend, Carndonagh defeating Malin minors in the opening round of Inishowen league games on Friday while the Carndonagh U-16s also had a good win over Malin in the Northern Senior ladies training continues every week on Wednesday’s at 6-30pm and Saturdays at 5-00pm, all new girls welcome, girls are asked to bring runners and boots.

The club is running a bazaar on Friday 15th April, more details to follow.

U-14, U-10 and U-8 girls training continues every Saturday morning from 11-00 to 12-00, all girls welcome to attend, 2 euro per session.

Training for Under 6, Under 8 and Under 10 boys continues on Sunday mornings, under 6 training from 10-30 to 11-30, under 8 training from 11-30 to 12-30 and under 10 training from 12-30 to 1-30, again, all boys within the age groups are welcome to attend, 2 per session. Under age hurling takes place on Wednesdays, Under 8s from 4-45 to 5-45 and from 6-00 to 7-00 for Under 10s/Under 12s. This is open to boys and girls, 2 euro per session. Camogie takes place from 5-00 to 6-00 every Monday. Equipment is provided by the club but anyone wishing to purchase their own equipment should contact any of the coaches.

There was no winner of this weeks lotto jackpot. Bridget Doherty, Bunn was the 50 euro prize winner with the 20 euro sellers prize going to Conor and Shaun Kelly. Next weekend’s jackpot is €1,300 and we thank the local community for its continued support.
