Good samaritans in Derry help Chris get his wallet back!

A man who accidentally left his wallet in Derry's Foyle Street bus station said he wants to highlight the honesty and generosity of local people who helped him and returned his wallet.

Chris Cordner, from Castlerock, said he wanted to highlight how positive his experience had been after initially being upset when he discovered his wallet was missing.

He told the ‘Journal:’ “When I got on my bus I realised I had left my wallet on the seat in the bus station. I jumped off the bus and ran back into the station but the wallet was gone.

I was upset and I checked with the inspectors and the shop owner but no one had handed it in. The bus driver had kindly waited for me and as I got onto the bus again, in my distress, I announced what had happened and a person very generously offered me a £10 note to pay for my train fare back to home. When I got home I reported the loss of the wallet to the police.”

Later that evening, the police contacted Chris to say that his wallet had been handed in to the PSNI Station on Strand Road. “I would like to publicly thank the honest, kind and generous people of Derry; the bus driver who waited for me and to the police who so quickly got the wallet from Derry to Coleraine.” he said.
