Lisa, who is a Principal Paediatric Occupational Therapist with the Western Health and Social Care Trust, won the award for her pioneering work in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Altnagelvin Hospital.
Lisa has been working to embed a role for occupational therapy, with a follow-on therapy service in the community.
Commenting on the Winner of the First Lecky Award, the judging panel said: “Lisa Campbell showed real teamwork and leadership skills.
“Occupational therapy involvement in the neonatal intensive care unit helps parents to care for their tiny babies and develop parenting skills and Lisa showed real leadership skills in setting up this service and establishing this vital role.”
Congratulating Lisa on her achievement, Helena Doherty, Western Trust Head of Occupational Therapy, said:
“I am delighted that Lisa’s outstanding service to the neonatal unit has been recognised regionally at the Advancing Healthcare Awards.
“Lisa, in partnership with her physiotherapy colleague, Kate McShane, has been delivering the highest standard of care to premature babies.
“This service provides ongoing intervention, guidance and support for staff and families to nurture the development of neonatal infant care, such as handling, positioning and promoting parent and infant interaction. This early intervention promotes the basic foundations required for the development of motor, functional and sensory skills in babies.
“It is particularly significant that this unique service at Altnagelvin Hospital has been recognised for an award as it is the only service of its kind in Northern Ireland.”
Lisa received her award from James Leckey, Chief Executive of James Leckey Design, at the celebratory dinner at the Europa Hotel in Belfast recently.
Over 80 entries from across all the professions and from all over Northern Ireland were received.
The awards programme, exclusively for allied healthcare professionals and those who work with them in support roles, was instigated by the Department of Health, Social Services and Public Safety in 2014, with the aim of encouraging innovation, team working, new ways of delivering care and the highest standards of practice.
