A leading Derry drugs charity has issued a warning about a new mephedrone-based drug called ‘B2’, describing it as the most dangerous and worrying substance they’ve ever encountered.
One user even described the drug as “suicide in a bag”.
Clarendon Street substance abuse charity, HURT, have assisted four B2 users in the last ten days alone. They say that all were suicidal.
HURT’s Sadie O’Reilly said: “This is the most potent, dangerous and worrying drug I’ve encountered in 11 years in this sector. That’s not just my own opinion but of those using it.
“My fear is we are going to see tragedies soon due to this drug. One man walked in here simply as our office happened to be on his route to the bridge. He was completely despairing and said he had been using drugs for 23 years but this was the worst ever and led to a psychotic episode. Our advice is to stay away from it.”
According to B2 users, the drug gives a 15 minute high before extreme lows.
