The Western Health and Social Care Trust (Western Trust) have announced another major milestone for the new Radiotherapy Unit at Altnagelvin Hospital, with the signing of a Project Charter.
Commenting on this significant event, Western Trust Chairman, Gerard Guckian said: “The signing of this project charter reaffirms the commitment of the Western Trust, Central Procurement Department (CPD) Health Projects, the Design Team, led by O’Connell Mahon Architects, and the building contractor, McLaughlin & Harvey Ltd, to work in partnership to ensure the delivery of the highest quality radiotherapy facility to our patients.
“I am delighted with the partnership approach adopted by key stakeholders in this significant capital project to achieve a high quality state-of-the art Radiotherapy Unit.”
He added: “The new Radiotherapy Unit will offer an increased capacity in Northern Ireland for radiotherapy services and will cater for over half a million people living in Derry, Limavady, Strabane, Omagh and Fermanagh District Council areas.
“This unique cross-border project will also treat patients from the Republic of Ireland including north to mid-Donegal and will make a real difference to people being treated for cancer and their families.”
