Pat Ramsey MLA is encouraging everyone, young and not so young, to take the British Heart Foundation’s Heart Month 10 Minute Challenge. Mr Ramsey is getting behind the British Heart Foundation (BHF) and Northern Ireland’s Heart Month, calling on the people of Foyle to take 10 minutes to change their life during February.
Around 12,500 people in Foyle are living with cardiovascular disease, which includes heart attack and stroke. But the risk of many conditions, such as Type 2 diabetes, heart attack and stroke, can be significantly reduced by making improvements to your lifestyle. This February, the British Heart Foundation, with the support of Pat Ramsey is urging local people to take at least 10 minutes every day to improve their heart health.
He said: “I have personally equipped myself with a Step-0-Meter provided by the British Heart Foundation and will be working up to taking 10,000 steps a day which should do wonders for my heart, my blood pressure and general wellbeing.
“Hopefully this is a realistic and manageable target which should fit into my daily routine.
“I would encourage everyone young and old to take up this challenge. See what you can do in 10 minutes to keep your heart healthy.”
