Macmillan Cancer Support’s volunteer champion in Strabane has appealed for people across the North West to take part in the charity’s fundraising walk in Strabane this weekend. The sponsored walk for Macmillan will start out from Heaton’s car park in Branch Road at 1pm on Sunday, May 5 around the town’s bypass, ideal for all the family!
Urging people to take part in the walk, Deirdre Campbell, Volunteer Fundraiser for Macmillan Cancer Support said: “We are hoping to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support and also raise awareness of cancer which is so prevalent, and the support that is available to those affected and their families. We are hoping that people of all ages, creeds and colours will come along on Sunday for the walk. Cancer is a really heavy duty issue but we want to make this a fun day and raise money for a very worthy charity.” Deirdre, who has become widely known as the dedicated face of Macmillan in the Strabane and Derry areas, expressed thanks to Boots, corporate sponsor for Macmillan, and Asda, for all their support.
