Temperatures are expected to soar to up to 20 degrees Celsius next week across the north west, forecasters have predicted.
Both Met Eireann and the Met Office concur that Counties Derry and Donegal can expect a warm start to the second week in May, with sunny spells and an end to the wintry showers.
Temperatures are expected to begin to climb on Sunday, amid mostly dry and sunny weather.
For Derry, the Met Office is predicting highs of 19 degrees on Monday.
Met Eireann meanwhile is predicting hazy sunshine and light winds on Sunday, followed by warm weather early next week with”overall dry with spells of hazy sunshine and light to moderate easterly winds”.
Looking beyond next week, the Met Office has forecast: “Mainly dry and settled weather is then expected through to the middle of May with above average temperatures at first, although temperatures could return to near normal later, with perhaps more changeable weather spreading into the north west.”
