Around 20 homes have been evacuated during an early morning security alert in Derry.
Police say a device was thrown at a house in Ringfort Road at around 5:15am this morning.
A PSNI spokesman says that Thursday morning’s alert lasted around two hours.
He says two men have been arrested.
“Approximately 20 homes were evacuated as the area was cordoned off. The device was later declared a hoax and the residents of the evacuated homes were able to return at approximately 7.15am.
“Two arrests were made. A 23 year-old male was arrested for obstruction and money warrants. A 26 year-old male was arrested for criminal damage and possession of an explosive device. They are both currently assisting police with their enquiries,” the spokesman says.
