‘Ireland’s Greatest’ and Noble Peace Prize winner, John Hume, will officially launch the Moville Lighthouse Festival in the town tonight.
The committee of the newly re-vamped festival were delighted to have the Mr Hume confirmed as the special guest in charge of launching the much anticipated festival yesterday.
Speaking to the ‘Journal’ chairperson of the festival Dennis Foynes said they are over the moon with the news.
“We weren’t sure if John was able to do it or with one thing or other so we got the word he would be officially opening it on Friday night we were delighted.”
John and his wife Pat have been residents in the Carnagarve area of the town for many years and they are popular characters within the area of Moville and Greencastle.
The festival, will include a wide variety of events from a cinema in the hall, live music in the courtyard and a battle of the DJs in the marquee which has been erected in the Square Moville.
The opening night will also including the naming of Moville’s official Lighthouse keeper.
The fun kicks off at 7pm with music from Brian Sheerin.
