The manager of In Your Space, Cath McBride, has won the Arts Council of Northern Ireland Anne O’Donoghue award.

Working with In Your Space since 2012 Cath is responsible for the group’s administration and funding applications.

Speaking about the award, which is for £5000, Cath said, “It’s a great boost, and lovely for my work to be recognised.

“The rest of the group are performers and usually our funds, which are already limited, are spent on their development, so I’m looking forward to focussing on my own career .

“The money will be spent on one-to-one mentoring with Dr Roger Courtney and two study visits to other groups. This includes Chicken Shed in London, where they have great finding ideas and Sea Change in Great Yarmouth who face similar challenges to In Your Space and who have a good track record in securing funds from Europe.

“Hopefully these visits and mentoring will add to my knowledge and enable me to apply the new advice to my role at In Your Space.”

In Your Space is a circus and street performance company and circus school based on Waterloo Street which also puts on a huge circus, arts and music festival, ‘Carnival of Colours’ every year in St Columb’s Park.

This year the event will take place on 29th and 30th August.

The team at In Your Space have congratulated Cath on her award, saying, “Congratulations to our incredible manager Cath Mc Bride who has been awarded the Arts Council of Northern Ireland Anne O’Donoghue Award. Just when we thought she couldn’t be more awesome! We are very proud.”
