Inishowen’s first ever Fashion Week will be launched in Buncrana this week.

Running from Monday 17th - 23rd October, IFW allows local and national fashion designers, stylists, brands or houses to display their latest collections in runway shows.

The official launch will take place at the Castle Bridge, Swan Park in Buncrana on Thursday night at 9.30pm.

One of the organisers Liam Gill, Chairperson of Inishowen Children’s Autism Related Education has been involved with previous fashion shows for the local charity.

“In 2007 i.C.A.R.E. Introduced the first fashion show, presenting the best of the North West Style and Fashion to a sell out audience. We have organised four fashion shows and due to public demand we have expanded our horizon, and raised our standards.

“For 2011, while continuing to grow, our aim is to be the premier Fashion event of the North West. We will feature exciting new designers, retailers, celebrities and media, striving towards our vision of Inishowen Fashion Week becoming a fashion and arts destination.”

The group hope to target fresh and new trend-setters for all ages, while at the same time showcasing young new Inishowen designers.

“We aim to create a series of high profile events such as Health and Wellbeing evening, hair and beauty extravaganza, various fashion shows during that week and much more.

“During IFW2011 we want to showcase designers, retailers, beauticians and hairdressers especially from Inishowen.”

Throughout the fashion week, they will host young designers competitions with great prizes up for grabs. More details on the competition can be seen at

“More more come along to our launch on Thursday. This is a free outdoor event, there will be opportunities to speak with organisers regarding participating and much more. Champagne and nibbles will also be given out,” concluded Liam.
