Ireland’s fastest driver

The fastest motorist in the entire country on Saturday was recorded by Gardai at Lisfannon.

Gardai across the country undertook ‘Operation Slowdown’ between 7am on Friday, May 30th to 7am, Saturday, May 31st.

In that 24 hour period, 124,818 vehicles were checked and 974 motorists were detected speeding.

The fastest, at 147kph in an 80kph zone, was recorded on the R238 at Lisfannon, just outside Buncrana.

The head of Garda Traffic Assistant Commissioner John Twomey thanked motorists who complied with the law and reminded road users Gardaí would continue to enforce road traffic legislation.
