Everyone in Derry loves a bun with their cup of morning tea - but these supersized creations are taking the ritual to a whole new level.
Huge turnovers and gigantic cream fingers are just some of the enormous sweet treats being produced by local favourites McDaid’s bakery.
With the cream finger measuring at least 40cm compared to the average 15cm, it’s certainly something to get your teeth into.
You can also ask for giant turnovers, awesome custard slices, big caramel squares and much more.
Manager of the bakery, John McDaid, explained how they started to make the gignormous confection.
“Someone asked for a giant turnover instead of a birthday cake. Then other customers started to order them more regularly.
“We sell around 30 a week. They’re a novelty niche market but they have taken off.”
McDaids Bakery celebrate their 100th birthday next year - wonder what they’ll create for such a milestone!
