This is the talented local schoolgirl who’s just returned from a prestigious dance festival in Wales with an astonishing ten prizes.
Zoe Kyte from Eglinton picked up six first place medals and four silver medals at the Associated Dance Board Festival in Wales.
The 13 year-old dancer was also awarded high marks in four other dance categories.
Zoe, a pupil at Limavady Grammar pupil, was also named ‘best overall dancer across all age categories’ after her wins in acrobatics, ballet, tap and modern dancing.
Following her success on the dancefloor Zoe has now been selected to contest the British National Championships in Blackpool later this month, held at the Winter Gardens, Empress Ballroom.
Zoe’s mother Sandra, said they have been overwhelmed with the success.
“It has been crazy, our whole family life revolves around Zoe’s dancing classes,” she said.
“My two year old daughter Bella is picking up a few steps already but she wont start classes until she is three, her brother Corin, 9, hasn’t seemed too interested yet though.”
Speaking of Zoe’s invitation to tap dance at the British finals, Sandra said: “She will be competing against regional winners so it is a step up in terms of competition.
“Our approach is always the same though, we never expect anything when we travel to competitions and if Zoe wins something it is a bonus.”
Zoe, who began dancing with The Rainbow School of Dance when she was just three years-old has also already begun carving out a small acting career.
Her image has been used on the City of Culture billboards and she has appeared in a television advert for Northern Ireland Tourist Board.
“I’m delighted for her,” said her mother adding: “She loves dancing and is really starting to excel at it now, she, we can’t wait until Blackpool.”
