Thousands of women are expected to turn out this afternoon for the annual Foyle Hospice female 5k.

The walk is the hospice’s biggest fundraising event of the year with women of all ages signed up to take part.

The all new Foyle Hospice Female Walk/Run is bigger, better and definitely brighter this year with its dazzling white t-shirt.

The Female Walk will take place today at 1.30pm and will start from Templemore Sports Complex with the finish line at Ebrington Square via the Peace Bridge.
The women will make their way to Ebrington via the Buncrana Road, Bay Road, Riverside Walk, and the Peace Bridge.

Traffic disruption is expected for a short time in the area of Buncrana Road and police have advised motorists to use an alternative route at this time if possible.

Buses are available to take participants from Browning Drive to Templemore Complex from 12pm onwards. The last bus departs at 1pm. These buses will also be available to return participants to Templemore once the event is completed.

Registration is available this morning however participants must be there early if not registered.

This is the 14th Annual Walk in aid of Foyle Hospice and support grows year on year with over 4,600 taking part in 2013.
