A 36-year-old man who threw an iPad at a woman, which hit her on the head has been jailed for three months.
William James Patrick Kelly was sentenced at Limavady Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.
Kelly, whose address was given on court papers as ‘no fixed abode’, was sentenced for common assault on April 21.
The court heard police were called to an address in Ballykelly. The injured party was upset and said Kelly had come home drunk. She was asleep in her bed. Kelly went to sleep on the sofa, but got up and went to the bedroom and threw the iPad which struck the woman on the head.
Kelly, who was intoxicated. admitted the offence but said it wasn’t intentional.
Defence solicitor John Fahy said the injured party accepted what happened as a misunderstanding. He also said Kelly had apologised.
District Judge Liam McNally also ordered Kelly to pay a £25 offender levy.
