Soccer star James McClean has given a football shirt he wore in Sunderland’s game with Manchester City to pupils at a Derry primary school.
The former Derry City winger - now plying his trade with Sunderland in the English Premier League - presented the shirt to pupils at St. Paul’s Primary School, Slievemore, during a recent visit.
McClean - one of the stars of this season’s Premier League - took part in a question and answer session with pupils before he took time out to have his photograph taken with pupils and sign football shirts, footballs and other sporting items.
Principal Catrina Mc Feely says local kids have a “great role model” in the Premier League star.
“We are all very grateful to James for giving up his time so generously. He is a great role model for our pupils and we were delighted he took time out of his busy schedule to pay us a visit.”
