Derry beauty Joanna Cooper competed in the finals of Miss Universe on Sunday, but unfortunately missed out on a top 15 spot, and was unable to continue for the title.
Appearing in the grand showcase in Las Vegas, Joanna looked stunning in the preliminary rounds where she modelled in the evening gown and swimsuit sections.
On the night the former Thornhill College student wore a national costume which was draped in green and gold.
Commenting on Facebook she referred to the late night showing of the competition in Ireland because of the time difference, and missing out on the coveted top spot.
She said, “Sorry for keeping you all up folks! Lol, regardless I had the time of my life & would do it all again tomorrow. Thank you so much also everyone.”
Last week, she also had the opportunity to speak on E! news, a US entertainment news channel.
She tweeted, “It’s literally my dream to be a presenter for @ENews, so to be interviewed on their show tonight was just amazing.”
The 21 year old only found out she was Miss Ireland at the end of November in a competition held in Cork.
Ahead of the show she wrote, “So I keep saying I can’t believe it but I CANNOT believe that tonight I will be competing in (real life) Miss Universe. Thank you all one more time for all your support throughout this whole experience whatever happens tonight I’ll be coming home the happiest most grateful girl in the world.”
