Josephine Mulevnna in Derry next week

Ms. Mulvenna needs no introduction to the traditional singing circle fraternity.

A singer, actor, dancer and broadcaster, the Belfast woman was immersed in traditional singing and step dancing from an early age and participated in dozens of fleadhanna ceoil and feiseanna over the years.

In 2009 she began broadcasting Celtic Bridge on a number of Q Radio Networks specialising in traditional music and singing featuring respected artists like Len Graham, Cathal McConnell, Cara Dillon, Moyà Brennan, Maura O’Connell and many more. As an actor she has performed on various stages including the Lyric Theatre, Grand Opera House and Whitla Hall in Belfast, and appeared in various venues in Dublin and London.

Numerous television and radio appearances have included The Corner House, 11th Hour and the Kelly Show. Among numerous appearances in festivals the length and breadth of the country perhaps one of her most memorable performances was for President Mary McAleese and her guests at Áras An Uachtaráin on St Patrick’s Day.

In recent times Josephine has returned to what she does best with gigs in her home city of Belfast, including at The Sunflower Club, and numerous appearances throughout the province.

She will be our special guest in Tinney’s Bar, Patrick Street, Derry on Thursday, April 4, at 9 p.m. sharp. This has all the makings of an outstanding evening of traditional singing and crack.
