This is the group of dedicated runners who will hit the streets of London this Sunday to raise money for the Foyle Hospice.
This year’s team includes a reformed heavy ex-smoker and families of people who have availed of the Hospice’s support.
Collectively the participants will raise almost £30,000, which will make a real difference to the lives of hundreds of patients from across the North West who avails of the In Patient, Day Hospice and Home Care services provided by Foyle Hospice.
Sean McIvor, a member of the team said: “My decision to participate in the London marathon come after the death of my father. The hospice offered ongoing support for my family and provided specialist care for my dad in his last few weeks and the care they provided is a memory that I will hold for a life time.”
Sean will form part of a group of eighteen from across counties Derry Donegal and Tyrone who will take on the 26.2 mile run through the streets of London, passing most of the city’s greatest landmarks, on Sunday 26th April 2015, on behalf of the Foyle Hospice. They will be joined by more than 40,000 other runners from across the world who gather in the capital for the annual event.
Also on the team are E&I Engineering HR managewr Gareth King, Majella McLaughlin running memory of her sister in law, Louise Friel and Sarah Webster, and Mary Doherty.
Noel McMonagle, Fundraising Manager and co-ordinator of the London Marathon event for Foyle Hospice, said: “We are extremely proud of our team who are running this year’s London Marathon and greatly appreciate their commitment, endurance and efforts in aid of Foyle Hospice.”
