Programme makers have followed the twists and turns of life inside Derry’s taxis for a new radio programme to be aired next week.
The ‘Derry Taxi Diaries’ programme will be broadcast at 1pm on BBC Radio Ulster on Sunday September 6, and repeated again on 7.30pm next Thursday, September 11.
Journalist Robert Mulhern spent six months with among taxi drivers in Derry for the project.
The programme makers said: “His fare weaves an amusing and anecdote littered tale through streets where the rearview mirror gives a unique perspective into the city’s social narrative in 2015.
“Along the way, there are encounters with Hitmen, cavalier adulterers and terrifying trips into the middle of nowhere in the dead of night. From the Cityside and the Waterside, drivers gear-shift between long-suffering and love-struck, to deliver a personality bursting snapshot of their city.”
The new programme is produced and narrated by Mr. Mulhern, with John Simpson on sound supervision.
