The Limavady Cage Bird Society are holding their 18th Open show next Thursday and Friday, October 14th and 15th. The venue this year is 2nd Presbyterian Church Hall, Irish Green Street, Limavady.
A spokesperson for the organisers said: “This year we have enhanced our exhibition by inviting international judges from Scotland and Dublin. We are expecting over 1000 birds to be on show here on the day. The exhibition will be open to view to the public from 4.00pm to 6.00pm. Admission will be free, although children must be accompanied.
“Ballot tickets and results booklets will be on sale with many prizes to try for. With the venue close to the town centre and parking free we expect a large volume of people as such an exhibition is only held once a year in Limavady.
“It is preferred to get your birds pre-booked if possible. All exhibitors must be registered and produce their DARD number on entry forms without this, entry will be refused. This show is licensed and conforms to DARD regulations.
“For the Fife section we have been awarded a points system so Fife exhibitors have all to go for and for the Budgerigar & Foreign we have a 3 tier patronage awarded for this show.

Pre-booked birds will be accepted on Saturday morning before 9am. Those exhibitors who are members of one of the six clubs in the North West will qualify for the points award scheme of the Cage Bird Society 2000 of Northern Ireland and have the opportunity of winning a further award on accumulated points within these clubs. All exhibits must remain on staging until 6pm to qualify.”
