A 37-year-old Limavady man received a suspended jail sentence for assault on his partner in a row over ‘Wagon Wheels’.
Robert Morrow of Sperrin Road was sentenced to four months in jail, suspended for two years, at Limavady Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday for the offence, and also for making a threat to kill a woman.
The court heard police were called to an address in the town regarding a domestic incident on June 7 at 7am.
The injured party said there had been a verbal altercation over biscuits, disclosed in court as Wagon Wheels, and that Morrow became aggressive. The court heard Morrow slapped the injured party and she sprayed him with pillow mist.
A defence solicitor said he believed it was a “one-off” incident for Morrow and, while he had a record, there were no reports of any matters of a violent nature.
District Judge Liam McNally said it was “a serious case” and “for no good reason” Morrow assaulted his partner and made a serious threat.
