Limavady police warning to people involved in shooting swans

Police in Limavady are appealing to the public to report anyone they see harming swans in the area of Myroe.

On their Facebook page, PSNI Limavady said; “We have had a number of queries relating to the large number of migratory birds currently in the Limavady area, particularly the swans in the area of Myroe.

“Whilst it is lawful to hunt several other species of bird at present, swans are protected by law and anyone shooting them or harming them may be liable to prosecution.

“We would ask members of the public to report to us if anyone is seen harming swans in any way. Registration numbers of any vehicles involved would be particularly useful.

“Contact staff at our Call Centre by dialling 101.”
