A Limavady school is set to release a CD featuring the singing and instrumental talents of students and staff, and which includes tracks dedicated to the memory of a much-loved pupil who died tragically in 2013.
St. Mary’s, Limavady, is set to release ‘A Class Act!’ on Tuesday.
The 24-track CD features songs, and instrumental pieces from pupils and staff.
The song ‘Run’ is one of two songs dedicated to much-loved pupil, Keelan Mullan from Drumsurn who died on March 2, 2013, when his car was involved in a collision on the Drumsurn Road.
Keelan’s mum, Deborah said it is “a beautiful tribute to our beautiful boy”.
“The song ‘Run’ has become immensely poignant to me. It’s such a meaningful song that the choir sang so beautifully at Keelan’s funeral, and for the school to honour his memory in this way by dedicating a song for him now, more than two years later, is deeply touching for myself and Declan, and especially our three girls who instantly relate this song to Keelan whenever they hear it. The warmth and generosity of the pupils, staff and teachers who contributed to this tribute is truly remarkable and very humbling. A beautiful tribute to our beautiful boy,” said Deborah.
The CD was compiled by music teacher Rita Mooney, who has been involved in countless musical productions at the school throughout the years.
The CD will be available to buy from Tuesday at St. Mary’s.
