The summer releases are set to come thick and fast for Ireland’s finest dance act, The Japanese Popstars.
In keeping with our expectations of the highly rated three piece they continue to work with the finest in the industry and have recently recorded with Mercury Award nominee Lisa Hannigan, Tom Smith of the Editors, Green Velvet, Robert Smith from The Cure and James Vincent McMorrow.
‘Song For Lisa’ was recorded after Ms. Hannigan sent them a demo of the song, Decky Hedrock of The Stars said: “It was basically her singing the song in her kitchen over our music. We loved it, so we booked into a studio in Belfast to record the vocals with her.
“We had a great time with her and it was a real pleasure to work with someone with so much natural talent.”
The track will officially be released on Virgin Records on the 4th April.
A Popstars summer single ‘Joshua’ featuring Tom Smith (Editors) is also in the pipeline. That is to promote new, indeed long awaited album, ‘Controlling Your Allegiance’ on Virgin Records.
Decky said: “We are very excited to work in this manner, as it is the first time we have been able to work with vocalists on our own tracks and we’ve been lucky to work with artists we’ve grown up listening to and highly respect.”
