Lorry driver faces fatal accident charges

A lorry driver has been charged with a number of offences following a fatal accident near Strabane.

The 49 year man arrested following a fatal RTC on the Melmount Road, Victoria Bridge, Strabane on Saturday 11 April has been charged with dangerous driving causing death, causing death by driving whilst uninsured, no insurance and failing to have recording equipment fitted to his vehicle (tachograph).

A man in his 40s died following a two vehicle collision involving a lorry and a van in Co Tyrone.

Sergeant Amanda Kenny, Collision Investigation Unit said, “ The man has been charged to appear at Enniskillen Magistrates Court tomorrow, Monday 13 th April. As is normal procedure all charges will be reviewed by the PPS.

“I appeal to anyone who witnessed a white Mercedes box lorry or a white Citroen van on the Melmount Road, Victoria Bridge, Strabane between 10 pm and 10.15 pm on Saturday evening 11 April 2015 to contact the Collision Investigation Unit on non emergency number 101.”
