Loyalist paramilitary flags in Limavady prompt '˜turf war' fears
Colr. Brenda Chivers said the appearance of UDA, UVF and UFF flags in the town would suggest whoever is erecting the flags “are clearly marking out different estates in the town.”
“These flags have already put people off visiting the town for shopping for the next few days as I have been contacted by many people who simply say they are intimidated,” said Colr. Chivers.

The PSNI was asked to comment, but did not respond by press time.
Colr. Chivers called on those with influence in the community to speak to those responsible.
“Will the Orange Order or unionist politicans show leadership and take action?” she said. “I won’t hold my breath as we have the same problem year after year.

Colr. Chivers also slammed those involved in leaving tyres “on site to be burnt on the Eleventh Night bonfire on the Blackburn Path, yet again”.
“Unfortunately, also in this case, the authorities are unwilling to take any action for fear of violence, this is mob rule,” said Colr. Chivers.
