This year’s sports day in aid of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy will take place on Sunday next 5th June, the Bank Holiday weekend. There will be all the usual track and field competitions plus numerous sideshows, adult tug of war and a schools challenge competition, and the club would seek as much support as possible for a very worthy cause. Everyone is welcome to join in the fun.

Hallelujah Chorus -The Church of the Sacred Heart in Carndonagh will be filled with the sound of sacred, classical music for a free charity concert in aid of cancer patients. The Donagh Church Choir presents an evening concert of music for voice, organ and recorder in the Church of the Sacred Heart on Sunday, June 12 at 7.30pm.
Guest performers will include Joseph Deery, Danielle Cavanagh, Melissa Craig and Niamh McCullough as well as the Bev Doherty Recorder Ensemble. The choir, with director Helen Haughey and organist Mike Doherty, will perform ‘Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring’, with Ciara Fagan on recorder.
Karen McLaughlin will feature as soprano soloist in a special version of ‘The Lord’s My Shepherd’. The concert will conclude with a stirring selection from Handel’s Hallelujah Chorus.
Admission is free but there will be a charity collection for the Irish Cancer Society on the night. Everyone welcome.
Playdays Community Playgroup has moved premises to Malin Head Community Hall, and is open from 9.15-12.15pm, Monday to Friday. We would like to thank everyone who helped with the move and all that went with it, and also thanks to Hugh and Mary Doherty.

The annual Corncrake Conservation Project is up and running again. The number of corncrakes in Donegal was down last year, to just 67 calling birds. This year, more than ever, it is important that every bird is recorded and protected. Anyone who hears a corncrake is asked to ring the Corncrake Hotline on 074 9165117. MALIN GAA: The senior side lost by 0-10 to 0-05 away to St Eunans in Division 1 of the All County League on Saturday evening.
The reserves won their second game of the league when they beat St Eunans also on Saturday. The senior ladies were knocked out of the Championship on Sunday, two late Convoy goals helping them to a 3-05 to 1-08 win.
The minor side lost to Urris in the Inishowen Final on Thursday evening.
The U-10 side were beaten by Buncrana on Saturday.
Malin U-14s are through to the Inishowen A final after two victories last weekend. The team defeated Moville last Friday on a scoreline of 1-09 to 0-07. The match played in Moville in terrible weather saw Malin put in a determined and gritty performance and the victory was the result of hard work from every player on the pitch. There were great performances throughout the field in particular Ryan Doherty at full back and Lee McDaid at centre-half back made sure not to concede any goals. The wingbacks Thomas Mc Laughlin and Tiernan Stevens and wing forwards Christopher Doherty and Danny McCarron worked tirelessly all night while Cain Stevens added a brace of points to help see his side through. Scorers on the night were Jonathan Mc Laughlin(1,1),Christopher Doherty(0,2)Christopher Mc Laughlin(0,2),Cain Stevens(0,2)Danny McCarron(0,1) and Dermot McDermott(0,1). On Sunday morning the team put in a great performance beating Buncrana with an impressive scoreline of 4-10 to 0-02. The first half saw Malin play with a strong wind and they used it fully with a half time score of 4-04 to 0-02. They did very well against the strong wind too, keeping Buncrana scoreless and adding six more points to reach the club’s first under 14 A final in 8 years. There will be no U-6 training next Sunday morning because of the sports, training will Under age training times have changed to the following, U-8 Thursdays at 6pm, U-10 Fridays at 6pm.
Camogie for all ages is now on Wednesdays 4-5, under 8 hurling 5-6 and under 10/12 6-7. Each session costs €2 and helmets and hurls are provided. Anyone who is interested in helping with camogie or hurling is very welcome to come along to the training sessions on Wednesdays.
U-14, U-10 and U-8 girls training continues every Saturday morning from 11-00 to 12-00, all girls welcome to attend, €2 per session.
