Man attacked in paramiltary-style attack in Derry

A man has sustained injuries to his leg in a paramilitary style attack in Derry last night.

Police have just released details of the incident, which occurred in the Glenowen area of the city at around 11pm.

It was reported that a number of men forced their way into a house in the area and assaulted the male occupant.

The man, aged in his 20s, sustained injuries to his legs as a result of the beating.

A PSNI spokesman said: “Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with any information regarding the attack to contact Detectives at Strand Road Police station on 101 quoting reference number 1677 12/07/16.

“Information can also be passed anonymously via the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
