Man bitten on chest in Westland Street

A man was reported to have been bitten on the chest in the Westland Street area at the weekend.

Police in Strand Road are appealing for witnesses to the assault which took place on Sunday August 3.

It was reported that as a man was walking along the street at around 10pm he was set upon by a number of males and punched and kicked to the ground. The man required medical treatment for cuts to his head and face and a bite mark to his chest. One of the attackers was described as being around 6’ tall, in his late teens or early 20s, of thin build with short dirty fair hair. Officers would ask anyone who witnessed the assault or who has any information to contact them in Strand Road on the non emergency number 101. Information can also be passed anonymously through the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
