Man charged after Magilligan drugs bust

A 50-year-old man arrested in Magilligan on Monday following a planned drugs search where suspected cocaine was seized has been charged with a number of offences.

The charges are in connection with an arrest in the Drumavally area of Magiligan where a quantity of suspected cocaine, suspected herbal cannabis, drug paraphernalia and a mobile phone was seized.

The man has been charged with possession of a class A drug, possession of a class A drug with intent to supply, possession of a class B drug and possession of a class B drug with intent to supply. He is due to appear at Limavady Magistrates Court on Wednesday 14 October.

Detectives from PSNI’s Organised Crime Branch made the arrest.

Detective Chief Inspector Colin Gillis said on Monday the seized drugs were estimated to have an approximate value of over £1,000.

“This seizure and arrest is yet another example of the PSNI’s commitment to policing the threat posed by drugs in Northern Ireland and we will continue to work with our local colleagues to combat this,” said DCI Gillis.
