A 35-year-old Limavady man who subjected another man to “an unmerciful beating” has been jailed for five months.
Stephen James Mullan of Kennaught Terrace was sentenced on Wednesday at Limavady Magistrates Court for assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
The court heard at 9.30pm on June 18, 2014, Mullan saw the man on the street and said ‘I don’t like you’, and then punched him four or five times.
The court heard the injured party suffered injuries to his nose and face.
The court heard Mullan accepted fully he shouldn’t have done it.
In sentencing, District Judge Liam McNally told Mullan he had a “bad” record and that he had given the injured party an “unmerciful beating”.
“You punched him, you bit him and you stamped on him,” said Judge McNally.
