Man left with head injury after city centre assault

A man has sustained a head injury after he was assaulted in the city centre at the weekend.

Police at Strand Road have now launched an appeal for information about the episode, which occurred before 3.00 am on Sunday, March 6.

An ambulance crew attended a man who had sustained a head injury at Shipquay Street.

According to witnesses, he was attacked by two men.

One is believed to be in his 40s, 5ft 9ins to 6ft tall and of a stocky build. He had a shaved head and was wearing a white jumper and dark jeans.

The other was about the same age and height and he also had a shaved head. He was wearing a dark bomber jacket and light jeans.

The victim, who is in his 30’s and from the city, was taken to hospital, but later discharged. Anyone with information can phone 101.

In a separate appeal, PSNI detectives said that on Saturday afternoon, a white laptop and black Playstation were stolen from a house at Primrose Street, while sometime between Friday afternoon and Saturday afternoon a house at Chapel Road was entered and two televisions and a microwave oven stolen. Contact police on 101.
