Man seriously injured after petrol bomb attack

A man has been left with serious injuries following a petrol bomb attack in Derry’s Waterside last night,

It’s believed that two male youths smashed a window of the house in Benvarden Avenue and threw a lit petrol bomb into it. The petrol bomb struck a 45 year old man who was in the house at the time.

Two neighbours responded and rescued the man from the house. He was then taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries which were initially thought to be life threatening. His condition is currently described as serious but stable.

The two male youths were dressed in grey hooded tops and had scarves over their faces. It is believed they made off in the direction of Dervock Place.
