Sinn Féin Councillor Eric McGinley has welcomed the Housing Executive’s commitment to carry out a maintenance scheme in Barr’s Lane.
Colr. McGinley said after regular contact with the Housing Executive they confirmed to him that work will commence in the Barr’s Lane area within the next 12 month.
Colr. McGinley said: “In response to ongoing requests from residents I have been in regular contact with the Housing Executive seeking a commitment that work will be carried out to improve the exterior condition of Housing Executive houses in Barr’s Lane.
Colr. McGinley continued: “I have now been given assurances that this work will commence within the next calendar year along with other measures which will improve the general environmental appearance of the entire Barr’s Lane area.”
Colr. McGinley said whilst he welcomed the news that the work will happen he will continue to lobby for it to start as soon as possible.
He concluded: “I welcome the Housing Executive’s decision to carry out this long- awaited scheme and I will be pressing for this work to be carried out as quickly as possible.”
