This is the nine year old girl whose hoping to win the hearts of the people of Derry when she takes to the stage of the Millennium Forum next week alongside a star studded cast in the family favourite Annie.

Playing the audience’s favourite ‘Molly’ - Meadbh Parr will be making her stage debut in the show and says she can’t wait until opening night.

And as a pupil of Sandra Biddle’s Foyle School of Speech and Drama she’ll have plenty of back up on the night with 11 fellow actors on stage playing the unruly orphans in Miss Hannigan’s home for girls.

“I’ve been at the Foyle School of Speech and Drama for three years,” The Hollybush P.S, pupil told the ‘Journal.’

“I auditioned for the part in August and was thrilled when i was told I got the part.

“I love all the songs in Annie especially ‘It’s a Hard Knock Life.’ I also sing ‘ You’re never full dressed without a smile.”

Helping prepare her the week long run at the Forum is Sandra’s daughter Aoibheann Biddle who played the role of Molly alongside acting legend Su Pollard almost a decade ago.

“I haven’t seen my outfit yet but I think it will be rags,” said Meadh. “And I’ve been told I will have my hair all back combed.

“I’m not nervous at all. Aoibheann and Miss Biddle have been helping us learn the songs and the dances.

“I’m looking forward to meeting the cast when they come over and I’m looking forward to my family coming to see me in it.”

From its Broadway beginnings to the classic film musical, this heart-warming rags-to-riches story of Annie’s adventures, from the New York orphanage to the luxurious home of Oliver Warbucks, is a tale that has been told all over the world for decades and will continue for many years to come.

Leading a star cast of over 40 talented artistes, the hilarious Su Pollard stars as the dastardly ginsoaked Miss Hannigan.
