Men receive face and hand injuries in city assaults

Police are investigating two separate reports of assaults on two men on Thursday, 17 March in Derry.

The first assault occurred in the Grafton Street area at approximately 5.45pm. The second assault occurred in Lower Nassau Street.

Police investigating the first assault in Grafton Street in which a male is believed to have sustained injuries to his hand arrested a 17 year old male.

The male who was assaulted in the second incident in the Lower Nassau Street area is believed to have sustained injuries to his face.

Inspector Tony Moore would appeal to anyone who was in the Grafton Street or Lower Nassau Street areas today and may have witnessed either incident to contact Police at Strand Road on the non-emergency number 101. Or, if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.
